Cormiston Farm, Biggar …a fabulous rustic wedding venue full of charm and character

I had the absolute pleasure of capturing a wedding reception at the wonderful Cormiston Farm in Biggar, South Lanarkshire towards the end of last summer. The owner of the farm, Richard, warmly welcomed us into the farm and his team were fabulous throughout the whole day.

The couple were married at their church in Peebles so there was a lot of travelling for us on the day but we loved it.

Morning preparations were captured at the stunning farm house, with the bridal party having access to the full house. The first look from a very emotional and proud dad took place in the houses library.

After returning from their church in Peebles, afternoon tea was served on the lawn and guests enjoyed a very competitive but fun game of cricket and some lawn games.

The reception was held in the barn which was only a few steps away down a twinkling lit walkway. The delicious food by the venues caterers was visually beautiful and enjoyed by all the guests. They then feasted on a supper of haggis, neeps and tatties buffet style …. there was enough for seconds and even thirds for some guests.

This venue really is a blank canvas which gives the couple so much scope for creativity and can be dressed however you want it. My couple opted for really natural and rustic theming to fit in with the charm of the barn. Tables were decorated with poses of wildflowers, roses and decorative pearl hearts, sitting on wooden blocks. Place cards were cute green painted wooden hearts and the venue was lit with the ambient lighting of the overhead fairy lights. Guests could then retreat to the upstairs lounge area which housed fabulous chesterfield couches and tea/coffee station.

The couple opted for a doughnut tower over a traditional wedding cake …. and I always say, do YOUR wedding YOUR way. And it looked absolutely perfect against the backdrop of the barn.

The venue can accommodate guests in their choice of reception spaces which include the barn or a fabulous tipi on the lawn. Accommodation options include the main bed and breakfast house which sleeps up to 6 or the onsite tipi tents which are pitched on one of the fields within the grounds of the farm.

We can’t wait to be back up in Cormiston Farm.
